Tips & Tricks to crack BITSAT

Hello BITSAT aspirants,
In this blog I would like to talk about Tips & Tricks or Strategies one need to adopt while appearing and preparing for BITSAT.
Mind it, you have to attempt 150 questions in 180 minutes so paper can't be very tough.

Exam Hall Tips-
1. Don't overspend time on any particular question, mark it and move ahead.
2. Don't look at the timer continuously, just keep a check on the time.
3. "Speed without loosing accuracy" is the Key for doing well in the exam.
4. Don't make wild guesses, however calculated guesses would do as there is negative marking.
For intelligent guesses, adopt the elimination strategy.
5. Attempt that section first in which you are most confident.

How to prepare for BITSAT?
For PCM:-
1. Strictly follow the CBSE Syllabus (Class XI & XII) and don't go beyond it.
2. Learn all the concepts & formulae by heart as some of the questions are direct concept based.
3. Attempt some Mock Online BITSAT Tests only after completing the syllabus

For English:-
1. First of all, don't worry about this section much if you have good command over Grammar.
2. If you really want to prepare for it then try to do Active-Passive voice, Direct-Indirect speech & other basics of grammar.
3. Don't pick a Vocabulary book as you will get 1000s of words & it will be difficult to memorize.

Finally, try some Mock Online BITSAT Tests after completing the syllabus. Never go for offline tests for BITSAT as that would not help you.

BITSAT 2010

Entrance Exam to renowned BITS campuses - Pilani, Goa & Hyderabad called BITSAT has commenced from 10th May 2010 and will go on till 10th June 2010.
BITSAT (Birla Institute Of Science & Technology Admission Test) is a Computer based Online Test where the questions are selected at random from a large question bank. Different candidates will get different question sets, but of same difficulty level and content.

For the benefit of students, I would like to share some Examination Hall related information with you:

BITSAT is held in 3 shifts -
1) 8:30 am to 11:30 am
2) 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm
3) 4:30pm to 7:30 pm

Each student is given a PC where student needs to provide his BITSAT Roll No(provided at the time of application) to start the Test. Every hall has around 3-4 invigilators.

BITSAT Details:

3-hour duration (without break). The test consists of four parts:

  • Part I : Physics - 40 questions
  • Part II : Chemistry - 40 questions
  • Part III : (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning - 25 questions
  • Part IV : Mathematics - 45 questions
-Total 150 questions and 3 marks each for each correct answer. There is negative marking (-1 mark) for each incorrect answer.
-All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions); each question with choice of four answers, only one being correct choice. No marks are awarded for not attempted questions. While the candidate can skip a question, the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as correct answer.

-There is no time limit for individual parts of the test. The candidate can go back and change any of his/her answers among the 150 questions.

- Extra/Bonus questions: If a candidate answers all the 150 questions (without skipping any question), the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 (twelve) extra questions, if there is still time left These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics only; 4 questions from each part. Further, once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 150 questions.

-All the questions and instructions of the test will be in English only.
